What a year it’s been for Riyad Mahrez.

The Algerian winger notched an impressive 17 goals and 11 assists for Leicester City in their remarkable Premier League winning season of 2015/16. He was then named the PFA Player of the Year for his amazing play and now can add the BBC African Player of the Year Award to his trophy cabinet.

Mahrez, 25, beat out the likes of Liverpool’s Saido Mane (who finished second in the voting) and Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Hot on the heels of the award, it was announced that Mahrez finished 7th overall in the 2016 Balon d’Or voting with teammate Jamie Vardy coming in 8th.
