With the exception of N’golo Kanté, it’s been a summer of re-signing for Leicester City, with a number of first team Foxes including Kapser Schmeichel, Wes Morgan, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez all agreeing to extended (and huge money) deals.

So now it almost feels like small news that England international and Premier League champion Danny Drinkwater has agreed to extend his stay in the midlands for 5 more years.

I love being part of this team. We’ve been through so much together and I’m sure there’s a lot more to come

Great to have you on board Danny!

The deal is likely to include a big pay rise, but it’s money well spent. Former Leicester striker Gary Lineker called it “A just reward for his magnificence”, while manager Cladio Ranieri called him “a fantastic player and fantastic man”.

While he hadn’t been subject to the rampant speculation that dogged the big three this summer, Spurs had apparently been sniffing around so make no mistake, this is great news.

I have every confidence that that’s it for news on this quiet day...

Oh right!

In the very unlikely case that you’ve forgotten the biggest day for this club since, well, May, the draw for our first ever foray into the Champions’ League group stage is today.

It’s a good day to be a Leicester fan. Enjoy!
