375 days.

That’s how many days Leicester City Football Club were Champions of England.

That’s also 375 more days than I ever thought possible and by God did I appreciate every single one of them.

Honestly thought that I’d more likely see 375 straight days of me eating a burrito. Or rainfall. Or flying monkeys dressed as construction workers. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I’d have the AB-SOL-UTE pleasure of living 375 days of my life with Leicester as the top club in all of England.

But guess what? IT HAPPENED.

So here we are, on the 12th day of May, 2017 and are back to Leicester not being Champions because Chelsea (yuck) reclaimed the crown for the second time in three years after beating West Brom 1-0 at the Hawthorns.

What happens next? Well, after I go hide under my bed and cry for the next 8-12 hours, I’ll slowly resurface. From there, I’ll force myself to return to my proud state, knowing that this club, our club, did something that no one has ever done before and ever will again — defy those lofty odds and rock the footballing world. (Ok, maybe it could happen again but honestly, I’m just not in the place to admit that right now).

375 days as Champions of England...but you know what? There isn’t a number you can put on it. Leicester have carved themselves a very special place in the sports folklore that will last well beyond Antonio Conte and his Chelsea trophy-raisers of this campaign. Taking nothing away from the boys in blue from foggy London town. Great season, great accomplishment, blah blah blah...but what the Foxes did was some next level special.

Congratulations to this years champions but raise a glass much, much higher to our 2016/17 squad that changed the game for this day and all the days to come. I leave you with some photographic evidence of that squad’s achievement for you to weep quietly next to under faint candlelight. Thank you and goodnight.

Ok, I may actually be crying right now. No big deal.
