There’s been constant speculation this summer that Leicester City were interested in buying Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City and all kinds of news outlets are reporting this afternoon that a £25m deal for the 20 year old striker could be close.

The exciting young Nigerian looked like the future of City before the arrival of Gabriel Jesus left him on the outside looking in. It was made clear that he was available for the right price this transfer window and, while several others including West Ham and Crystal Palace were rumoured to be interested, it seems that only the Foxes were willing to pay that price.

Earlier reports had suggested that the only stumbling block in the deal was his current team’s desire to include a relatively low buy-back clause. It’s currently unclear how that issue was navigated, and whether such a clause is in included, or what the buy-back price would be.

Nothing is finalised and these things can fall apart at any minute, but with talks between the club and Iheanacho’s agent reportedly advanced so if things go well we could see another deal across the line in the coming days, as a strong summer of transfers continues for Leicester.
