Who’s up for a cup run?

With their Premier League campaign now well and truly underway, Leicester City will take a brief pause to kick off the first cup competition of the year. The Carabao Cup (the league cup) is one in which the Foxes have a real history, having lifted the trophy on three occasions (the Football League Cup in 1964, the Coca Cola Cup in 1997 and the Worthington Cup in 200).

Our opponents, Sheffield United, should pose an interesting threat. Last year’s League One Champions are off to a good start in the Championship and will definitely be up for the game. The Blades are the boyhood team of new boy Harry Maguire, and arch rivals of Jamie Vardy’s Sheffield Wednesday.

See below for all the information on how to watch, along with team news and lineups when they come.

Leicester City Team News:

Nampalys Mendy, fit and healthy for the first time since his debut, more than a year ago, will feature to some extent for the Foxes as could Jamie Vardy, who trained after coming off against Brighton.

Robert Huth, Kelechi Iheanacho and Danny Drinkwater, meanwhile, are on the road to recovery but not yet available for selection. Vicente Iborra remains out, and is expected to stay that way until after the international break at the start of September.

Sheffield United Team News:

The Blades could be without former Leicester man Richard Stearman, as well as goalkeeper Simon Moore through injury. Forward Leon Clarke is suspended.
