Aleksander Dragovic is not only easing the absence of injured Wes Morgan, he is revelling at centre-back for the Foxes. Dragovic came into the team in early January, and has slotted in expertly alongside Harry Maguire in the Premier League campaign.
Impressive performances
His impressive performances for Leicester have gone under the radar somewhat, but Dragovic deserves credit in more senses than one. On loan from Bayer Leverkusen, Dragovic has quickly adjusted to the speed of top flight English football. Not only that, since coming into the team he has also had to adjust to playing with a varying back four.
With Wes Morgan being such a key player, you’d be forgiven for being concerned at how we’d cope without our club captain. Dragovic however, has stepped into the breach and proved he is well equipped to play at Premier League level.
Dragovic’s playing style suits Claude Puel’s reinvented Foxes system. He has shown in matches his willingness to take the ball on himself, pass the halfway line and look to play the ball into attacking areas.

Alongside his comfortableness on the ball, the Austrian international also has a no nonsense approach to his game. Despite on appearance looking smaller in height than his opponent, Dragovic has a great leap when it comes to challenging for headers.
A perfect signing for the summer
Dragovic’s solid performances, plus proving his capability at Premier League level, makes him a perfect signing this summer. In Dragovic, we’d be getting a defender who is coming to his prime at 26 years old, is becoming more and more accomplished at Premier League level and now knows the club.
Upon joining the club on a season long loan last summer, it was agreed the deal would be view to a permanent after this season. Claude Puel would be wise to follow up that deal and sign Dragovic permanently this summer.
