Transfer deadline day is upon us! A few weeks ago it looked like Leicester City were pretty much wrapping up their business for the summer, but of late they’re starting to look a lot busier again.
There are quite a few stories that might rear their head today. Most of them will come to nothing, as ever, but here are the main rumours heading into the day:
Dennis Praet - probably the most likely deal to be completed today. Some say sides are close, others have called it a done deal. The ever reliable John Percy predicts an £18m for Youri’s former Anderlecht teammate. Personal terms not fully sorted, but he has flown in for a medical, so signs are good for this one.
James Tarkowski - this one looks very unlikely now. The Burnley man was top of the Maguire replacement list, along with Nathan Aké, but both players’ teams appear to be asking for a lot more than we’re willing to cough up.
Another CB - there are a few other rumours circulating, with many seemingly certain that the Foxes will draft in an extra defender of some kind. Names put about have included Juventus’ Merih Demiral and Djené Dakonam of Getafe, but there’s nothing firm or reliable for either right now.
A winger - goal scorers/creators are exciting and draw news. The Foxes could use one, certainly and have plenty of money. There’s very little real talk at the moment, but the day will probably be fun of rumours.
Adrien Silva - this one seemed like it’d be done by now, huh? Monaco are the still the only strong interest we know of and their window doesn’t close today, so don’t worry if this one is 14 seconds late.
Daniel Amartey - the Ghana international appears to have fallen to at least 3rd in the RB pecking order and 4th at DM. Both Fulham and Sheffield United have registered interest, so we could see a deal today.
Rachid Ghezzal - no one wants Ghezzal. Not even Leicester. There has been speculation that he could be included in the deal for Dennis Praet.
Nampalys Mendy - Papy is higher up the depth chart here than the others mentioned, but there have been rumours of interest from Saint Etiene.
We still have more than 30 players who would need 25-man squad registration. Apologies if I lose you with complex mathematics, but I think more than just those four will be left out.
With other leagues’ windows closing later, there isn’t necessarily a panic, but it would be nice to get as many deals done today, before the club has to officially announce which players are surplus to requirement.
