It could be permanent this time

According to a report from football insider, Leicester City LB Callum Elder may be on the move today. The claim that Hull City will make an offer for the Australian and that the Foxes are happy to let him go.

The young left back has been sent out on loan over the past few seasons, but this time it is expected to be a permanent deal.

Despite decent preseason performances for the last couple of years, Elder has never been close to breaking into the first team squad. At 24 years old he’s now also beyond development squad age and his chances of ever improving to the level necessary seems unlikely at this point.

In fact, a move to a mid table Champion side like Hull seems like an unexpectedly good move for him. Elder’s previous loans had been to Leagues 1 and 2, while last season he went out to Ipswich Town, making just four appearances in their relegation from the Championship.

It might not be the big news we’re waiting for, but hopefully this will be the first of several successful sales for the Foxes.

The squad is still far too large and several players need to make way, hopefully before the window closes if they want to get good value.
