Predicting Leicester City’s 2019/20 Premier League Season

Surely we can’t do so badly again

Leicester City have seen off their slate of preseason games, learned what they can, and completed their transfer business. Now we’re on to the 2019/20 Premier League season.

Fosse Posse tradition dictates that it’s now time for us to predict how that season will go for the Foxes. Between us last year we predicted that Tottenham Hotspur would win something, Watford would be relegated, Iheanacho would outscore Vardy and Claude Puel would be here for years to come.

At least we can’t do worse (surely?)!

Let’s start in the same place: who wins the league?

Jack: Manchester City - I always go Spurs and I’m always wrong.

Michael: Tottenham Hotspur - my brain says Pep’s reign of terror will continue, but to spice things up I’ll officially predict Spuds

Shane: Liverpool

Jake: Manchester City

Matt: Chelsea

Which teams are set for the drop?

Jack: Aston Villa, Brighton, Southampton

Michael: Sheffield United (apologies to Slabhead’s former employers), Brighton, Southampton

Shane: Brighton, Sheffield Utd, Newcastle

Jake: Sheffield United, Aston Villa, Brighton - the seagulls fired Chris Houghton for staying up and will regret that

Matt: Aston Villa, Sheffield United, Brighton

Who will surprise us, good or bad?

Jack: Sheffield United - just by staying up, apparently

Michael: West Ham - Fornals and Haller are very promising signings

Shane: Norwich

Jake: Norwich - they’re not going to be the next Wolves, but they’ve built a great foundation

Matt: Norwich

Where will Leicester finish?

Jack: 6th

Michael: 6th

Shane: 7th

Jake: 7th

Matt: 5th

Who will be Leicester City player of the season?

Jack: James Maddison

Michael: Youri “The Greatest Midfielder to Ever Live” Tielemans

Shane: YOURI

Jake: Wilfred Ndidi - He’s already one of the best defensive midfielders in England, and he’s this close to adding goals to his game

Matt: Ayoze Perez

Top scorer seems set, who will be our 2nd leading scorer?

Jack: Harvey Barnes - All in

Michael: Ayoze Perez - He seems to be the most natural finisher in the expected XI outside of Vardy

Shane: Jamie Vardy (yes, that’s right)

Jake: Ayoze Perez - He’s a marvelous, instinctive player with a great work rate and I think the second half of last year was real

Matt: Jamie Vardy [I think Matt has predicted this every year he’s been here]

Finally and most importantly, will Leicester City concede more or fewer goals than Manchester United?

Jack: I chose the questions, so obviously fewer

Michael: No disrespect to my beloved Slabhead, but fewer. And comfortably so.

Shane: 1 fewer, just for the giggles

Jake: Do United still have Phil Jones? *checks roster* I’ll go with fewer

Matt: Fewer - far fewer! 10!

So what have we learned?

The Fosse Posse are unsure about the top of the table, but we do not like Brighton or Sheffield United. We do like Norwich, and think we have the Foxes down to pretty a tight window.

We’re pretty confident Ayoze Perez will have a good year, at least for goals, while the midfield will dominate awards season.

And most importantly, we agree that, while we wish Harry well, we all think he’s made a bad decision.
