Leicester City got themselves off to a winning start against West Brom, in a familiar looking 4-1-4-1, though some of the personnel looked a little less familiar with their positions.
With Burnley up next, I don’t expect any major changes to the shape of the side, but Brendan Rodgers will have a few more options to pick from as the injury problems ease.
GK: Kasper Schmeichel - I’m going to start leaving this one out eventually
RB: Timothy Castagne - Timmy (we’re still workshopping nicknames) made a fantastic start at RB and I can’t see them changing that soon.
CB: Wes Morgan - the captain has been back in training all week. We can’t be picky at CB.
CB: Caglar Soyuncu - I think we can write this one in permanent pen.
LB: James Justin - he didn’t look fully comfortable on the left to start with, but picked up later. Can’t argue with a clean sheet.
DM: Wilfred Ndidi - If Morgan can’t go, Wilf be at CB and Mendy will keep his place here.
RM: Ayoze Perez - I’m still not convinced with him on the right, but Albrighton wont be needed for this one and Gray couldn’t make the bench last time.
CM: Dennis Praet - Praet had a great all around game and deserves another run out.
CM: Youri Tielemans - Maddison has been training and got some minutes in against West Brom, but I don’t think they’ll risk him for the full 90.
LM: Harvey Barnes - Barnes was very active and dangerous throughout the opener. He’s still not quite finding the net but they’ll keep trying.
ST: Jamie Vardy - he’s already lagging 1 behind in the golden boot race, so he’s got to get out there and get more chances.
Fantasy Impact
The opening weekend after a short preseason saw an array of bad tackling and defensive mistakes. Could Burnley be in for the same in their first game? I’m backing Jamie Vardy to take full advantage of that.
