Cesare Casadei’s loan to Leicester City has been cut short by parent club Chelsea. The midfielder will return to Stamford Bridge immediately as the Blues are in the midst of an injury crisis. The Italy Under-21 international featured 25 times for the Foxes, scoring 3 times and providing 2 assists.
The recall comes at an unfortunate time for the Foxes, who are already without the services of Wilfred Ndidi for several months and in the market for another central midfielder. City have made a move for Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi and the deal appears to be imminent, but this was already in the works prior to Casadei’s recall. This may mean another move, probably a loan, will pursued by the club.

While it is disappointing to see Casadei leave earlier than expected, realistically, he was always going to return to Chelsea. While the Foxes will have the opportunity or obligation to purchase Yunus Akgun and Abdul Fatawu at the end of their loan, this was not the case with Casadei and has no impact on the club’s long-term outlook.
